There is a critical shortage of trained healthcare personnel in Sierra Leone and Liberia and thus the population does not have access to basic life-saving health care. The medical training by CapaCare aims to increase the number of skilled staff at the district hospitals in the two countries.Their Surgical Training Programme (STP) enables their students (healthcare personnel but non-doctors) to handle common surgical, obstetrical and trauma care, that without treatment could lead to disability or death. The students are thoroughly trained and supervised during the three-year programme.
W Initiative have committed to support CapaCare’s project for the next three years so that they can continue their work of training health care personnel in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
